Clicking previous/next product not in sync with the product list order

When I click the previous/next button on my products details page the product shown does not correspond to the previous/next (left/right) product of the product (listing) page. In other words, previous/next seems to use a different order than the product list order.

It seems that this problem only occurs when importing products.

How does Multishop determine the default sort order when importing products with a product id? I was hoping Multishop would then sort by product id but it doesn't. It seems to be random.

Thanks for any insight and help.

ok sounds like you have products with the same sortorder number. I remember we had this issue in the importer because we used $time=time() and that the importer goes so fast that the next product go the same sort_order value as the previous product.

but this is fixed long time by incrementing the sort_order by 1 inside the importer iterator.

What happens if you re-sort your whole catalog? Ie: go to system/sort catalog/sort products on alphabet.

Are u using the flat mode setting? If so you have to re-sort the catalog and afterwards press rebuild flat database.

Are you refering to the field sort_order in tx_multishop_products_to_cagegories? This is set to 1 for almost all of the products.

Should this number be incremented for products belonging to the same category?

Ah, if I resort the products alphabetically the problem is fixed. sort_order numbers start now at 0 for any given category and increment with each product.

Wunderbar!

It seem that the import wizard also lets me import the sort_order number. Is that correct? If so I'm all set. Thanks.

Yes that is correct. If interested have a look at: admin_pages/admin_import.php
