Sounds like you need to set it up with 3 pages:

1 for the master database (this must be the page that you are using as primary shop page right now)
2 the Cars section (slave shop)
3 the Bike section (slave shop)

1
Edit the content element of your "master shop" page
Click the tab Advanced settings
Enable the checkbox "Master shop"
Save the form

2
Now create the page Cars
Add the multishop content element on the middle column
When configuring choose "core shop" as section
Save the form

3
Repeat step 2

Now you only need to add a ext template to both pages and configuring 2 variables so they actually use the database of the master page

Click the page Cars
Press Template
Edit the TYPO3 template constants
Add:

# this constant is used so the maincategories starts with the category Cars in the master shop. If you don't know the id number of the main category you can simply edit it and the id is displayed after the categories name.
plugin.multishop.categoriesStartingPoint=25

# this constant makes sure that the deeplinks of the categories and products are linking to the proper page where the core shop is on. In this case we want to keep them on the page cars when clicking on a link so specify the id of the page "Cars".
plugin.multishop.shop_pid = 380

# this constant must link to the id of the page "Master". In our case to use it as database store.
plugin.showCatalogFromPage = 381

Save these constants on Cars and Bike

Clearcache and it should work.

Hi base,

sorry for the late reply, I have been for christmas holidays.

Thanks it is working now.

What do you think is the better way, the way I go or use categories as navigation?

Thanks renep

That's fully up to you. It's like TYPO3, many flexible ways to Rome.

But building up one master shop that contains all the categories is a good way to go. This way you can easily create slave shops that shows a part of the whole catalog and be able to make nice "splash pages" to promote the niche market.
