PhpStorm

When I started as web developer I wrote PHP applications in Dreamweaver. I remember I really enjoyed it, especially the design preview feature.

At that time I was not aware of any other good editors/IDE's. After 10 years I started trying other IDE's, like Zend. Although it had lot of intelligent features, it never attracted me to switch from Dreamweaver. It felt really slow, crashed a lot and the intelligent features annoyed me. Hard to switch, so I kept using Dreamweaver.

3 years later several developers within the TYPO3 community suggested me to switch to JetBrains PhpStorm. It provides GIT support, is super fast and most important, it never crashes.

I have to admit that in the beginning it was painful to switch from a simple text editor like Dreamweaver to a smart IDE. It took several weeks for me to get used to it. But after that, I never looked back!

Now I'm using PhpStorm for allmost 4 years and never ever want to look further. It provides everything that I need for an optimal workflow. It even provides internal GIT support for JIRA, how cool is that?
